It's joy on two wheels
About Us
"Bike Pensacola" is a coalition of bicyclists, bike clubs, bike shops, and other organizations working to improve conditions for bicycling in Pensacola.
Join Bike Pensacola for the most popular bike ride in town—the Slow Ride!
Each month we explore the quiet, scenic streets of Pensacola's many historic neighborhoods for a fun and leisurely ride among friends.
Because most cyclists are “self taught,” each month we offer information about
bicycle laws and safety tips that will help keep rides safe and enjoyable.
The ride will be about one hour and ten minutes long, at a casual pace, but may include some hills. Nobody will be “dropped” or left behind. Children 16 and under are to be accompanied by an adult 18 or older and are the responsibility of that adult . Cyclists under 16 must wear a helmet by law, including those in bike trailers; ages 16 and up helmets are recommended but are not required by law. And we will enjoy a ride escort by officers of the Pensacola Police Department.
A few more things:
-
Pets are not allowed per our insurance policy
-
No training wheels
-
Bicycles only please, and only self-propelled or electric-assist
-
No Segways, skateboards, or gasoline-powered motorized bicycles
-
Open containers of alcohol are not allowed
-
Please make certain that both you and your bicycle are healthy and well-maintained so that you can safely ride about six miles.

December Slow Ride

The most popular bike ride in town rolls again as part of the larger Gonzalez Shareway event. We'll start and finish at Cordova Square across from the old Sacred Heart Hospital in East Hill. Pensacola Arts Market will be setup onsite with lots of local, handmade items--great for holiday gifts.
Our sponsor this month is the West Florida Wheelmen, a group of cyclists that hold multiple weekly group rides that take riders out farther and faster than we ride on our Slow Rides.
The ride will be about one hour and ten minutes long, at a casual pace. Nobody will be “dropped” or left behind.
Visit our Facebook page for more detail on the event.

Gonzalez St. Shareway Day

On Sat. Dec. 3 Bike Pensacola hosts a one-day, six-hour demonstration of the proposed Gonzalez Street Shareway, a complete street shared among all users but with features to particularly encourage cyclists and pedestrians. There will be music, activities and fun along the route at parks, businesses and homes.
Among the included activities:
- regular Slow Ride at 11 am
- Pensacola Arts Market and food trucks at Cordova Square
- Scavenger hunt that takes cyclists, skaters and pedestrians all along the corridor in search of clues
- yoga at AL Square
- tour of historic AME Zion Cemetery
- sidewalk book sale at Open Books
- Waterboyz skate team demo
Bike Pensacola identified the Gonzalez St. corridor as one of the only ones that is contiguous across Pensacola, due to the interruption of the Interstate 110 that was pushed through the heart of the city in the early 1970s and has divided neighborhoods. The project is an example of tactical urbanism, in which street improvements and traffic calming measures are temporarily installed to test them out and build public support for permanent changes.
Visit our Facebook page for more detail on the event.
